Not only is the Copa America one of the most popular football tournaments on the planet, but you could argue it is also one of the most competitive. The level of quality on show is incredibly consistent, with very few weak nations.
The competition was first run in 1916 with four nations taking part, a total of entrants that was doubled by 1947 and rose again to ten teams by 1975.
In 1993, CONMEBOL, the South American football governing body, elected to increase the competition even further by adding two more slots for nations in the CONCACAF region (North and Central America), and by doing so, the regular additions of massive markets in the United States and Mexico have further helped to increase exposure for the event.
Trying to get tickets for the competition is not that easy. Some may look to CONMEBOL’s official ticketing channels but are likely to experience doing so, and with SeatPick, you have a much better chance of not only getting hold of tickets but also the best value ones for every round of the tournament.
To find the best tickets for your budget, simply scroll through the countless options available and select those that work for you. We have plenty of availability for Brazil vs Ecuador, so get your tickets now and save yourself a great deal of heartache that may be experienced by opting for another less successful route.
In all honesty, a national team of Brazil’s size should have had a lot more success in the Copa America than they have managed thus far.
They first entered the competition in 1916 and won it three years later, but they have had some serious low points in the tournament. Between 1949 and 1989, they failed to win the tournament once, and that is all the harder to fathom given that the same Brazil side happily won three FIFA World Cups in that period.
In 1989, they ended that forty-year drought with forwards Bebeto and Romario spearheading the attack.
1997 and 1999 were also successful campaigns, and that was down to the outrageous amount of quality they had in the final third, with the likes of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho giving opposition defenders nightmares.
2004 saw Inter Milan powerhouse Adriano slay the opposing defence, scoring seven goals and finishing as the tournament’s top scorer as they overcame Argentina in the final. 2007 was yet another success, with Robinho finishing at the top of the goal-scoring charts.
It took another 12 years to secure Brazil’s next Copa America title, with Tite’s side defeating Peru in the final in 2019 before they surrendered their grip on the trophy by losing the 2021 final to Argentina in Rio.
Ecuador took part in their first Copa America in 1939 and only managed one single win in their first nine campaigns. In 1959, they finished fourth, which marked some level of progress for La Tri.
In 1993, they got to the Semi-Finals of the competition, where Mexico knocked them out in Quito.
Improvement has been gradual, but their recent Quarter-Final finishes in 2016 and 2021 are definitely a sign that Ecuador are moving in the right direction.
As of now, Brazil have played Ecuador on 15 occasions in the Copa America and have never lost a game.
In 2011, the two teams were drawn into the same group, and a brace from former FC Barcelona and PSG forward Neymar helped Mano Menezes’s side to a 4-2 win in Cordoba, Argentina.
At the 2016 Copa America, the two teams played out a goalless draw in Pasadena, and five years later, the two sides featured in a stalemate, with Real Madrid’s Eder Militao putting Brazil ahead before Angel Mena leveled for Ecuador.
