Kid Rock Biography

Robert James Ritchie, AKA Kid Rock, was born in Romeo, Michigan in January 1971 and was part of a hip hop collective named the Beast Crew from the late 1980s. Kid Rock worked on a number of mixtapes and demos, and interest in signing him as an artist was high, with six major labels vying for his signature.

His debut album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast was released in 1990 but it was his fourth album, released on Atlantic Records, in 1998 that saw Kid Rock finally hit the mainstream. Devil Without a Cause proved a massive hit, selling over 11 million copies in the United States alone.

That album included a string of strong single releases, including Cowboy, Wasting Time, and Only God Knows Why.

It would be his seventh studio album, Rock n Roll Jesus, that really thrust him into the spotlight, with the record hitting the top spot on the US Billboard Albums chart and also doing well around the world, selling millions of copies and earning Kid Rock two Grammy Award nominations.

Picture, with Sheryl Crow, secured Kid Rock a big US hit single as did All Summer Long, in 2008. Born Free (2010), produced by Rick Rubin and featuring Bob Seger, Rebel Soul (2012), First Kiss (2015) and Sweet Southern Sugar (2017) all performed well and cemented Kid Rock's standing in music circles, meanwhile his tours proved to be monumental successes.

In 2022 Kid Rock released his twelfth studio album Bad Reputation earning rave reviews if not huge commercial success.
