Rammstein History

Rammstein were formed in the late 1980s in Berlin by lead guitarist Richard Krupse, lead singer Till Lindemann, drummer Christoph Schneider, bass player Oliver Riedel, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers and keyboard player Christian Lorenz.

The band released their debut studio album in 1995 with Herzeleid proving a big hit in their native Germany and across Europe. Their second album, Sehnsucht proved a worldwide success, selling over a million copies in the United States alone.

That album included the hit song Du Hast and another high-charting song, Engel. Mutter, the band's third album, was another critical hit and their fourth album, Reise, Reise, released in 2004, included the singles Mein Teil, Amerika, Ohne dich and Keine Lust.

2009's Liebe ist fur alle da was another best-selling album and the band's last studio album for a decade. The band released a compilation album, Made in Germany, which proved a strong commercial success and included the track Mein Herz brennt which was another top ten hit in their native Germany.

In 2019 the band's long-awaited seventh studio album, Untitled, was a megahit that broke into the top ten across all of Europe and was their first album to do likewise in the United States. The album included a raft of great songs and has been supported by a Stadium Tour that has run for almost five years.

In 2022 Zeit was released Rammstein's eighth studio album and another album that topped the music charts in a number of regions including Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Holland, Norway and Sweden.
