Tenacious D History

Tenacious D's history started way back in the mid-1980s when Jack Black and Kyle Gass met in Los Angeles as members of The Actors' Gang theater troupe. The pair shared a love of music, and they played their first gig in 1994.

In 2001 the group released their debut album, the self-titled Tenacious D, and it charted well across the world and included the successful singles, Wonderboy and Tribute.

Pick of Destiny

In 2006 the two appeared in the movie Tenacious D In The Pick of Destiny, which was not a great success commercially, but did lead to an accompanying soundtrack which broke into the top ten in both the US and the UK.

In 2012 the band released their third studio album, Rize of the Fenix, which reached number four on the US Billboard Albums chart and number two in the UK and also went to the top ten in Australia, Austria, Germany and Ireland.

2018 saw Tenacious D put out their fourth album, Post-Apocalypto, which was well received by critics and moderately successful release.

Where the band really continue to excel is when they are on the road. The duo, as well as being hugely talented musicians, are also unsurprisingly excellent as performers.
