Argentina vs Germany at the World Cup

These are two of the most decorated teams in FIFA World Cup history, having won football’s most prestigious prize at least three times apiece.

The Germans have won the World Cup no fewer than four times, with three of those coming prior to the reunification of Germany in the early 1990s. West Germany first lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy in 1954 but would only reclaim the world title 20 years later.

Argentina and the Germans have contested the World Cup Final on at least three occasions. The first of these came in 1986 as La Albiceleste ran out 3-2 winners at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. At the following edition in 1990, the teams clashed at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, where German full-back Andreas Brehme scored the decisive goal with just a few minutes remaining.
