Hans Zimmer Tickets

Hans Zimmer had to wait 27 years between his two Oscars, longer than any other composer in history, and accepted the second from a hotel in Amsterdam while wearing a bathrobe.

The German-born composer scored The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, and Dune, then took that cinematic sound out of the cinema and onto arena stages.

His live productions treat film music as a headline act, pairing orchestras and electronic sound design with the kind of lighting normally reserved for rock tours.

What to Expect from a Hans Zimmer Concert?

The night starts like a film premiere and ends like a rock gig, with a full orchestra, a choir, and electric guitars sharing the stage.

Zimmer's recent productions lean on electronic textures and heavy light design, with arrangements reworked specifically for the arena rather than copied from the soundtrack.

Many of the musicians on his tours played on the actual film recordings, including the Dune sessions, so the ensemble knows the material from the inside.

Between pieces, he's known for the occasional spontaneous moment, including pausing a London performance to share a video of a Ukrainian pianist playing "Time."

Hans Zimmer's Biography

Hans Florian Zimmer was born on 12 September 1957 in Frankfurt, West Germany, and spent the early part of his career in the United Kingdom playing keyboards and synthesizers.

His career turned in 1988 when he was asked to score Rain Man, which earned him his first Oscar nomination at just 31.

He won his first Academy Award for The Lion King in 1994, a score that also earned a Golden Globe, then collected a second Oscar in 2022 for Dune.

Alongside two Oscars, he has won four Grammys, and in 2007 The Daily Telegraph named him one of its top 100 living geniuses.

His studio, Remote Control Productions in Santa Monica, has become a training ground for a generation of film composers.

Hans Zimmer's Albums & Projects

Zimmer's catalogue is largely made up of film scores, with standouts including Crimson Tide, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and both parts of Dune.

His live recording The Wings of a Film: The Music of Hans Zimmer captured his first concert performance with a 100-piece orchestra and a 100-voice choir, and the later Hans Zimmer Live album extended that format.

He has also scored for television and video games, giving his music reach well beyond the multiplex.

Most Popular Hans Zimmer Songs and Setlist Selections

"Time" from Inception and "Now We Are Free" from Gladiator are staples of his live sets, along with "He's a Pirate" from Pirates of the Caribbean.

"Cornfield Chase" from Interstellar and music from Dune tend to anchor the electronic-leaning stretches of the evening, while "Circle of Life" nods back to The Lion King.
