Robert Plant Biography

Robert Plant was born in West Bromwich, England, in August 1948 and formed Led Zeppelin in 1968, teaming up with guitarist Robert Page, bass player John Paul Jones and drummer John Bonham.

The group released their self-titled debut album the following year and followed up with a second album in the same year.

Led Zeppelin

The group released a total of nine studio albums, sold over 300 million records worldwide and are considered one of the best rock bands of all time.

Among their most famous songs are the likes of Whole Lotta Love, Immigrant Song, Rock and Roll, D'Yer Mak'er and Fool in Rain.

Split

When the band's drummer, John Bonham, died, the band disbanded, and Robert Plant released his debut solo album, Pictures of Eleven, in 1982. The record was a commercial success, breaking into the top ten in both the US and the UK.

Collaborations

He reunited with Jimmy Page on a collaboration in 1999 with Walking into Clarksdale, proving a critical hit, and he worked with Alison Krauss on Raising Sand in 2007, earning a Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

In 2021, he once again teamed up with Alison Krauss on another acclaimed album, Raise the Roof.
