South-coast outfit A.F.C. Bournemouth were not offered much of a chance by pundits to retain their Premier League status in 2022/23, and even after firing manager Scott Parker there was a great deal of doubt with regards to whether pundits felt they could stay on the right side of the relegation line, but Gary O’Neill did just that but was then unceremoniously axed.

Bournemouth’s previous stint in the Premier League lasted far longer than many anticipated, and former boss Eddie Howe has gone to do great things at Newcastle United, but a trip to face Arsenal on their own patch won’t be easy.

Though it took a while to bed in over the first decade in their current home, Arsenal have, in recent years, made the Emirates Stadium something of a fortress, and they are certainly the more likely of these two sides to end up on top.

Arsenal vs. A.F.C. Bournemouth Head to Head

The March 2023 fixture between these two sides went on to be something of a classic, and the clash went on to be one that will be fondly remembered by Arsenal fans.

Bournemouth took the lead inside the first minute when Phillip Billing scored a surprise opener, and despite incessant pressure, they bagged a second just before the hour mark through Marcos Senesi.

Thomas Partey quickly pulled a goal back, and sub Ben White made it two apiece after seventy minutes and then began an unrelenting period of pressure as Arsenal repeatedly attempted to breach Neto’s line.

Then, deep into injury time, sub Reiss Nelson took control of the ball from a knock down following a corner and calmly slammed home a famous winner, leading to sheer pandemonium in the stadium. The win maintained Arsenal’s title push and was a victory that will be long remembered by all those present.

Arsenal’s first Premier League home clash against A.F.C. Bournemouth finished in a more sedate 2-0 win in December 2015; on that occasion, goals from Gabriel Paulista and Mesut Ozil either side of half-time were enough for Arsene Wenger’s side to secure all three points.

That clash was only the second-ever encounter between the two teams, the previous fixture being a League Cup match in October 1987, which Arsenal won 3-0 on their way to a famous final defeat to Luton Town at Wembley Stadium.
