A.F.C. Bournemouth vs Tottenham History

A number of individuals have represented both Bournemouth and Tottenham, perhaps the most well-known being Harry Redknapp, who managed both clubs over the course of his extensive managerial career.

On the playing side, winger Darren Anderton spent 12 years at White Hart Lane before spending two seasons at Dean Court. Midfielder Jamie Redknapp followed in his father’s footsteps by playing for both teams.

Forward Jermain Defore had a very successful loan spell with Bournemouth early in his career and returned to the south coast club at the close of his career, having played the majority of the intervening period at Tottenham, scoring 143 goals over the course of two spells in North London.

A.F.C. Bournemouth vs Tottenham Head to Head

Tottenham’s first league visit to face A.F.C. Bournemouth came in October 2015, and Mauricio Pochettino’s side made light work of their recently promoted opposition though Eddie Howe’s side did take the lead.

The opening goal from Matt Ritchie came in the first minute, but Harry Kane had leveled from the spot just eight minutes later, and further goals from Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela had Tottenham 3-1 up at the break.

Kane grabbed two more to complete this hat trick in a comfortable 5-1 away win. In March 2018, a similar state of affairs unfolded. On this occasion, it was Junior Stanislas that gave the Cherries the lead after just seven minutes. Harry Kane was subbed off with an injury after 34 minutes, and Dele Alli netted an equalizer a minute later. Heung-Min Son scored twice before a Serge Aurier goal in the 90th minute completed an easy 4-1 win.

May 2019 brought with it a first home Premier League win for A.F.C. Bournemouth over Tottenham. Nathan Ake scored the last-minute winner on that occasion, albeit the visitors had been down to ten men for much of the game after Heung-Min Son was sent off just before half-time and Juan Foyh was also ordered off late on.

In 2022/23, the two teams traded off exciting five-goal thrillers. At the Vitality Stadium, Welsh striker Kieffer Moore scored twice to put Gary O’Neill’s side in control, only for Tottenham to respond magnificently. Ryan Sessegnon started the comeback, and Ben Davies leveled with 17 minutes to play, and at the death, Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentacur scored the winner.

Bournemouth secured a similar success late in the season, scoring deep into injury time to complete their own 3-2 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
