Brentford vs Fulham FC History
Fulham FC is the oldest professional football club in London, founded way back in 1879. Brentford FC was formed just 10 years later, but it wasn't until 1928 that these teams first went head-to-head.
Their inaugural meeting came in the old Third Division, with Fulham winning home and away against Brentford. They met in the Second Division five years later and clashed in the FA Cup for the first time in 1938; Brentford won, 3-1, and went on to also defeat Manchester United before bowing out to eventual champions Preston North End in the quarter-finals.
There were periods in which Brentford and Fulham wouldn't cross paths for several years, and by 2015 the teams had less than 50 previous meetings with one another.
After many years of floating in and out of the lower leagues, the Bees gained a long-awaited promotion to the Premier League in 2021. A splendid season saw Brentford also reach the League Cup semi-finals, though Thomas Frank's side ultimately crashed out to eventual runners-up Tottenham Hotspur.
Brentford vs Fulham FC Head-to-Head
When these teams met in the 2019/20 EFL Championship, Brentford were victorious home and away against the Cottagers. However, it was Fulham that emerged triumphant when it really mattered, overcoming their local foes in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium.
Brentford clinched promotion the following year and, at long last, in August 2022 these London rivals contested a fixture in the English top flight for the very first time. The Bees claimed a 3-2 win in this fixture, with Ivan Toney amongst the goalscorers.
