Arsenal vs Fulham History

The teams first shared a pitch in the 1904 FA Cup. This was a special occasion for Fulham, passing through all seven Qualifying Rounds to play in the First Round for the first time. Arsenal, however, came out on top by a single goal to nil.

To date, these clubs have met more than 60 times and they have also both been represented by a handful of players over the years.

•Luis Boa Morte moved away from Arsenal in 2000, initially on loan, before the Portugal attacker made a permanent switch to Fulham the following year.

•Philippe Senderos joined Fulham on a free transfer in 2010, seven years after the Switzerland defender had signed for Arsenal.

•Germany goalkeeper Bernd Leno switched to Craven Cottage in 2022, following a four-year stay in North London.

•Right-sided defenders Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares joined Fulham, on loan, from Arsenal in 2018 and 2023, respectively.

•Willian signed for a third different London club in 2022, having previously also played for Chelsea.

Arsenal vs Fulham Head-to-Head

Until their first Premier League meetings in 2001/02, 33 years had passed since the Gunners and the Cottagers had last convened for a league fixture. Fulham were relegated from the top flight in 1968 and went on to endure a massive slump until returning to the first tier following the turn of the century.

By the time Fulham eventually made a return to the top division, Arsenal were approaching the peak of their powers under Arsène Wenger. The Gunners won 3-1 at Craven Cottage and by four goals to one at Highbury (with Thierry Henry scoring on both occasions) and would go on to win the Premiership-FA Cup double.

This fixture produced a 3-3 draw in 2012, as Dimitar Berbatov’s brace rescued a point for the visitors. Just two years prior, Arsenal had stormed to a 4-0 win with Robin van Persie and Andrei Arshavin contributing goals.

In 2022/23, Arsenal again took victory at home (2-1) and away (0-3) with skipper Martin Ødegaard amongst the goals in both Premier League fixtures.
