The history of this fixture dates back to 1907, but all in all, league meetings between the two have not been all that regular, chiefly due to each side’s respective drop out of the top tier.

During Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning 2022/23 season, Fulham were very unfortunate to not return from their trip with something. Julian Alvarez put Manchester City ahead after 16 minutes, but Joao Cancelo was sent off ten minutes later, and Andres Pereira, a former Man United player, made it one apiece.

It took a 90th-minute penalty from Erling Haaland to give City the win, a result that Marco Silva’s side did not deserve.
