The first meeting between Manchester City and Chelsea was contested in the 1907/08 season of the First Division, as they played out a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

More than 125 years after they first crossed paths, Man City and Chelsea are now two of the most decorated clubs in the English game. They have won no fewer than 12 Premier League titles combined, in addition to 15+ FA Cup triumphs and several European honours between them.

• Raheem Sterling was the most expensive English player when he left Liverpool for Man City in 2015, in a deal worth almost £50m. Sterling made 339 appearances and earned four Premier League winner's medals during his seven years in Manchester, before he became a Chelsea player in 2022.
• Mateo Kovačić switched from Chelsea to Man City in 2023, while Cole Palmer went in the opposite direction. Kovačić was subject to a £25m transfer away from Chelsea, shortly before the Blues splashed out a reported £45m on 21-year-old Palmer.
