The history between these teams is not extensive, with just a handful of previous meetings. When they battled one another in the 2015/16 Premier League season, it was only the sixth and seventh occasions that Bournemouth and West Ham had shared a pitch.

When they did meet for the first time, it was a Fifth Round tie in the 1929 FA Cup. A 1-1 draw at Bournemouth resulted in a replay at Upton Park, where the Hammers ran out 3-1 winners.

Of the two clubs, West Ham are the more successful in terms of past achievements. The London-based outfit is a three-time winner of the FA Cup and also recently captured the UEFA Conference League in 2023.

He was the manager of Bournemouth when these teams met in the 1989/90 Second Division and also went on to be in charge of West Ham for seven years until 2001.
