Sarah Brightman was born in Berkhamsted, Hampshire, in 1960. She enrolled at the Elmhurst Ballet School and then the Royal College of Music. At just 13, she made her theatrical debut in I and Albert at the Piccadilly Theatre in London.

She joined the group Hot Gossip in 1977 and sang on their hit I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper, which sold over a million copies. She worked extensively with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber on a host of his hit musicals, including Cats and The Phantom of the Opera and the pair married in 1984.

She has released a host of solo albums with Timeless, released in 1997, proving a first massive success, selling over a million copies in the United States alone. The album also topped the classical crossover Billboard charts.

Of all Sarah's albums, Eden achieved perhaps the biggest splash as a solo artist, charting well around the world. Her duet with Andrea Bocelli, Time to Say Goodbye, got to number two on the UK charts, and she achieved success with Jose Carreras earlier in the 1990s.
