Finally, at Euro 2016, the Portuguese clinched European honours for the first time as they edged hosts France in front of 75,868 in Saint-Denis. Croatia, Poland and Wales all fell to the Seleção, before substitute Eder scored the winning goal in the second period of extra-time.
