Serbia vs Slovenia UEFA Euros Tournament Record

As an independent nation, Serbia have as yet never played in a UEFA European Championship finals tournament. As the Former Republic of Yugoslavia, they did well to reach the Quarter-Finals at Euro 2000.

In their opening fixture in that competition, they found themselves 3-0 down to Slovenia before they fought back to 3-3 with Aston Villa cult hero Savo Milosevic among the goalscorers in that game.

Slovenia’s first attempt at qualification for the UEFA European Championship came in 1996, but they failed to make it to England for those finals, but Euro 2000 saw them make their maiden appearance.

At those finals, they secured draws with the Former Republic of Yugoslavia and Norway but lost to Spain and were therefore eliminated at the first hurdle and have failed to make it to the finals since then before breaking that poor run to get to Euro 2024 in Germany.

Serbia and Slovenia’s only previous UEFA European Championship meetings took place at the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in Belgrade, and the return fixture in Slovenia was won by the home side, with midfielder Dare Vrsic scoring the winner in Maribor.
