Sugababes History

The Sugababes were formed in 1998 by Ron Tom and Sarah Stennett, with Siobhan Donaghy and Mutya Buena being joined by Keisha Buchanan to form the iconic original lineup of the group. The group's debut album, One Touch, was released in 2000 and was a success with their debut single, Overload, breaking into the top ten in the UK as well as performing well in Austria, Germany, New Zealand and Switzerland.

Freak Like Me

The forthcoming years saw the group become a huge success, arguably being among the biggest bands in the world at their peak. In 2002, the group scored two UK number-one singles, with both Freak Like Me and Round Round topping the charts, and the album that the tracks feature on, Angels with Dirty Faces, proved a big hit, selling over a million copies and cementing the Sugababes status as genre-leaders. By this time, Siobhan Donaghy had been replaced by Heidi Range and in 2003, Hole in the Head gave them a third UK number one.

Push the Button

In 2005, the group released arguably their biggest and most recognizable track, Push the Button. It reached number one around the world and is still a key track at all Sugababes live shows. Taller in More Ways (2005) and Change (2007) both went to number one on the United Kingdom charts.

Line Up Changes

Heidi Range left the group in 2011, with Siobhan Donaghy returning. In the intervening period, other members have included Amelie Berrabha and Jade Ewen. In 2022, the Sugababes released their eighth studio album, The Lost Tapes, which received positive reviews but did not perform as well commercially as the group's earlier releases. In 2023, the Sugababes went on their first headlining tour for almost a decade and also supported Take That.
