Teddy Swims Biography

Born Jaten Dimsdale, Teddy Swims grew up in Conyers, Georgia, and though he had been a keen American Football player at school, he was convinced to join a musical theatre class and continued to explore this avenue by joining a number of bands.

As an Atlanta native, he was part of a number of alternative rock bands and adopted the stage name Teddy Swims.

YouTube Success

Having appeared as an opening act for Tyler Carter, Teddy Swims was beginning to make an impact, and a selection of cover performances on YouTube helped to expand his audience.

These videos generated hundreds of millions of views and included covers of tracks by Chris Stapleton, Amy Winehouse, and most prominently, Shania Twain, with his cover of You're Still the One racking up over 80 million views.

He was signed to Warner Records in December 2019 and released his major label single Picky the following January.

Live TV Performances

The following February, Teddy Swims released My Bad, which he played to great success on the Kelly Clarkson Show and followed that up with slots on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and Late Night with Seth Meyers and the Ellen DeGeneres Show.

This led to Rolling Stone being named an "Artist You Need to Know" among a host of other glowing reviews.

Teddy Swims released his Tough Love EP in 2020, and this further helped him to expand his fanbase, moving from a rising star to a performer with more than just a strong social following working out of a bedroom studio to an artist of genuine interest, set to break into the mainstream.

In September 2023, Teddy Swims released his debut album, I've Tried Everything but Therapy (Part 1), to rapturous reviews.

The album's hit single, Lose Control, reached number 12 on the Billboard Singles Chart and was a top ten hit in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
