The Georgian Football Federation was initially founded in 1936, as part of the Soviet Union Football Federation, and it became an independent entity in 1990, shortly before after the country gained independence from the Soviet Union.

Kvaratskhelia signed for Napoli in 2022 and won the Serie A title in his first season with the Italian team. He was voted the Most Valuable Player and named in the Serie A Team of the Season for 2022/23.
