Having been founded more than 40 years before Leeds United, it's no surprise that West Bromwich Albion got the upper hand in many of the initial encounters between these clubs. The first time these teams shared a pitch was in 1924 as West Brom beat Leeds home and away in the First Division. The sides would continue to meet regularly until World War II broke out in 1939.
