Celtic FC vs Borussia Dortmund Connections
German defender Jeremy Toljan joined Celtic on a six-month loan deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2019. He made 10 Scottish Premiership appearances for Celtic, and 16 Bundesliga appearances for Dortmund, before signing for Italian club Sassuolo in 2021.
Scottish manager Paul Lambert was part of Dortmund’s Champions League winning team in 1997. In November 1997, the defensive midfielder signed for Celtic in a £2m deal. He left a lasting mark at both clubs.
