Biography Cheap Trick

Cheap Trick were formed in 1973, with the group being formed from the amalgamation of earlier bands with their original lineup, as of the release of their self-titled debut album in 1977, including Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, Tom Petersson and Bun E. Carlos.

Robin Zander's voice proved pivotal to the band's early success and their debut studio album proved a critical success but it would not be until their fourth album, Dream Police, that they made a real commercial impact.

That record broke into the top ten on the US Billboard Albums chart and sold over three million copies in the United States. It spawned a number of hit singles, including the title track, Voices, Way of the World and I'll Be With You Tonight.

Their Cheap Trick at Budokan live album proved another big success and gave them their first top ten US single hit, with I Want You to Want Me. Other successful tracks across this period include Surrender, Ain't That a Shame and California Man.

In 1988 the band released The Flame, which became their first-ever US number-one single, which featured on Lap of Luxury, Cheap Trick's tenth studio album.

On the same album were further commercially successful singles like Don't Be Cruel and Ghost Town signified a return to form for Cheap Trick.

In 2016, Cheap Trick released Bang, Zoom, Crazy...Hello, their seventeenth studio album, and it proved their most successful release in almost thirty years and proved that their audience remains strong.

Their landmark twentieth studio album, In Another World, followed in 2021 and was well-received by critics and fans alike.

Though the band have been touring for decades, Cheap Trick concerts are full of high energy, and the group's loyal and large fan base means that every show they play is invariably sold out long before they arrive in town.
