Finneas Biography

Finneas O'Connell was born in July 1997 in Los Angeles, and by the age of 12, he took a songwriting class, with his mother no less (Maggie Baird being a former Broadway performer and screenwriter), and he soon started writing songs for his sister Billie Eilish.

Indeed, he was very much the impetus for Eilish's big success. He wrote and produced the track Ocean Eyes, which was then posted on SoundCloud, leading to a groundswell of interest, leading her to be signed by Platoon, prior to being picked up by a major label.

He produced her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which was an immense hit worldwide. It showcased not only her talent but also his own. His debut EP, Blood Harmony, performed well and showed just what he was capable of as a solo performer in his own right.

Finneas released his debut album, Optimist, in 2021, and it was a successful release, charting across Europe and in the United States. It earned rave reviews and spawned a number of singles, including A Concert Six Months from Now and The 90s.

Across 2022 and 2023, Finneas went on The Optimist Tour, which saw him perform across Europe, North America and Australia, playing dates all around the world, from the House of Blues Boston to the Electric Ballroom in London to Danforth Music Hall in Toronto. He played to glowing reviews, with hordes of fans singing along with their favourite songs.

Prior to this, Finneas wrote and produced for a raft of top talents, including Khalid, The Knocks, Ashe, Selena Gomez, Tate McRae, Camila Cabello, Tove Lo, Demi Lovato, Justin Bieber, and, of course, Billie Eilish.

Finneas O'Connell has won a host of awards over the course of his burgeoning career, including two Academy Awards, including the Best Original Song Oscar for songs contributed to the James Bond film No Time to Die and Barbie. As of 2024, he has also won ten Grammy Awards and an assorted array of other prizes.
