Linkin Park History

Linkin Park were formed in 1996 by friends Mike Shinoda, Rob Bourdon and Brad Delson in California and the group's original vocalist, Mark Wakefield, was replaced by Chester Bennington in 1999 and the band released their debut album, Hybrid Theory the following year.

It proved a remarkable success, selling over 13 million copies in the United States alone and over 30 million worldwide. Huge singles from the album included One Step Closer, Papercut and In the End.

Three years later Meteora was released and was another astonishing success, going to number one in both the US and the UK and sold over 25 million copies. That album included Faint, Numb, From the Inside and Breaking the Habit.

Minutes to Midnight (2007) was another 20+ million-seller, and A Thousand Suns (2010) and Living Things (2012) all reached number one on the US Billboard Albums chart.

The band had by this point become one of the favourite artists in the world and every event and tour was an unstoppable juggernaut. All Linkin Park events were ones not to miss and the group was at the top of their game.

2014 saw The Hunting Party become Linkin Park's sixth studio album and their seventh, One More Light, followed in 2017.

However, just a few months after it's release, Chester Bennington had committed suicide, a death that shocked the band's huge fanbase.
