Little Big Town History

Little Big Town were formed in 1998 with members Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman meeting at Samford University in Alabama and they were joined by Phillip Sweet and Jimi Westbrook to form the band's iconic lineup.

The group's self-titled debut album features hits Don't Waste My Time and Everything Changes and was a moderate hit in 2002, but the band's follow-up, 2005's The Road to Here, certainly pushed the band into the mainstream.

The record went platinum and as well as reaching the top spot on the US Indie Charts, it also performed well on both the Billboard country charts and the Billboard 200.

Tornado

A Place to Land (2007) and The Reason Why (featuring the hit Little White Church) (2010) showed the group following an upward trajectory, and their next album, Little Big Town's fifth, Tornado, was a massive success, reaching number two on the Billboard 200 and going to the top of the Country music charts as well as making significant sales in Australia.

That album includes the hits Pontoon, Tornado, Your Side of the Road and Sober, with the first of those going on to sell over two and a half million copies in the United States alone, and you could say that at this point, they had most definitely arrived.

In 2014, the band scored another big hit with the best-selling country single of the year, Girl Crush, which soared and the album it appears on, Pain Killer, which secured commercial and critical acclaim.

Grand Ole Opry

That same year, they were invited to join the Grand Ole Opry, accepting the prestigious spot handed by Reba McEntire.

2017's The Breaker was the band's biggest album success in five years, and Nightfall (2020) once again saw Little Big Town hit the top of the country music charts. The group released its tenth studio album, Mr Sun, in 2022, with Hell Yeah proving to be a strong lead single.

Over the years Little Big Town have teamed up with some of country music's greatest performers. In 2009, they worked with John Mellencamp on A Ride Back Home, with Luke Bryan on Home Alone Tonight, with Vince Gill on Take Me Down, and Call Your Mama saw them work with Seth Ennis.

The AMA award-winning group has received countless accolades over the years, including eight ACM (Academy of Country Music Awards) wins and several Grammy-winning efforts, the first of which came in 2013 for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for Pontoon.
