Paula Abdul Biography

Paul Abdul was born in San Fernando, California in June 1962 and took to dance at a very early age. During her freshman year at California State University, she was selected as part of the cheerleading squad for the NBA team, the Los Angeles Lakers and therefore became a famed member of the Laker Girls.

She released her debut album, Forever Your Girl, in 1988, and it went on to top the US Billboard Album Charts and sold over seven million copies in the United States alone. The album spawned an incredible run of hit singles with Straight Up, Forever Your Girl, Cold Hearted and Opposites Attract all going to number one in the US and performing well across the world, making Paula Abdul a household name.

Her second studio album, Spellbound, followed in 1991, and that too topped the US charts, and saw hits Rush Rush and The Promise of a New Day going on to top the US Singles Charts. Her third album, Head over Heels, did not perform as well as her first two releases, but nonetheless sold over half a million copes in the US.
