Biography - Royal Blood History

Royal Blood was formed in 2011, six years after the constituent members first met and became friends. Singer Mike Kerr and drummer Ben Thatcher were part of a four-piece band called Flavour Country, but their involvement in that project was brief. Mike Kerr originated from Worthing, near Brighton, and Thatcher from Rustington.

Royal Blood were originally a three-piece band with Mike Kerr teaming up with Joe Dennis and Matt Swan, who was the band's first drummer.

The band released their self-titled debut album in 2014, which roared to the top of the UK Album Charts and also sold well across the world. That first album included successful singles Out of the Black, Little Monster, and Figure it Out.

Three years later, they released How Did We Get So Dark?, which was another UK chart-topper and confirmed their status as being among the biggest rock music acts in the United Kingdom, matched by their successful touring exploits.

The following year, they toured with the Queens of the Stone Age, and Typhoons came out in 2021, giving the duo their third successive UK number-one album. That album included singles Trouble's Coming, Limbo and Boilermaker.

They continued to grow and evolve, finding their sound, which is somewhere between Arctic Monkeys and the Foo Fighters. The band's fourth studio album, Back to the Water Below, was yet another number-one hit on the UK charts and secured commercial and critical success around the globe.

In 2023, they toured with Muse across Europe, and on their own headlining tours, they continue to play and fill larger and larger venues.
