In the early 2000’s, Arsenal and PSV faced off six times in the UEFA Champions League. Prior to the 2023/24 season, their last meeting in Europe’s elite competition came in the Last 16 of the 2006/07 edition. PSV defied the odds to eliminate last season’s finalists, winning 2-1 on aggregate.

In the 2022/23 season, Arsenal and PSV were drawn together in the Europa League group stage. Granit Xhaka scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 Arsenal win at the Emirates Stadium. That was revenge for the 2-0 defeat inflicted upon them at the Philips Stadium just one week prior.
