Bruce Springsteen Biography

Bruce Springsteen was born in New Jersey in 1949 and was inspired by watching The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, purchasing his first guitar shortly afterward.

He released his debut album, Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., in 1973, but he really rose to prominence with his third studio album, Born to Run, which spawned the hit single that is still part of his touring setlist.

His commercial nadir was undoubtedly the release of 1984's Born in the U.S.A, which saw Bruce Springsteen's seventh studio album sell over 30 million copies and led to the successful release of a run of hit singles, including Born in the U.S.A, I'm On Fire, Glory Days, Dancing in the Dark and My Home Town.

In 2022, Springsteen released his 21st studio album, Only the Strong Survive, breaking into the top ten in over a dozen countries, including the US and the UK.

Springsteen has secured a slew of awards and accolades over the course of a career that has now spanned more than half a century; these include being named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

He won an Academy Award for his track Streets of Philadelphia, from the movie Philadelphia, 20 Grammys, and two Golden Globes.
