He formed the original Passenger as a five-piece band with Andrew Phillips in 2003, releasing one album, Wicked Man's Rest, before the group split in 2009.

Rather than drop the name, Rosenberg kept it for his solo career and spent the following years busking across Australia and the UK to build his following from the ground up.

That grassroots persistence paid off in 2012 when "Let Her Go" became a global hit, topping charts in sixteen countries and later earning him the Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work.
