Cat Power 2024

Cat Power is set for an extensive world tour in 2024, during which she will be performing across North America, Europe and South America, and fans of the singer will be out in force to catch the legendary performer in action.

The tour begins in the US and sees Cat Power play at Carnegie Hall in New York as well as a host of other big dates before moving to Europe later in the year. She will play the London Palladium in May and the famed Folies Bergere in Paris before performing in Mexico and Brazil.

Cat Power Biography

Charlyn Marie Marshall, Chan Marshall to her friends, was born in January 1972 in Atlanta, Georgia and by the early 1990s, she was teaching herself how to play guitar and working with a group at extensive jam sessions; Cat Power started to play live shows in the local area. The name Cat Power came after Chan Marshall spotted a man wearing a Caterpillar trucker cap, and the name came to her.

Cat Power released her first two albums, Dear Sir and Myra Lee, before signing with Matador Records ahead of her 1996 release What Would the Community Think and her third album started to secure glowing reviews. Soon after, she moved to Portland, Oregon.

1998's Moon Pix charted in France and secured decent sales in the US, and this was followed by The Covers Record, and You Are Free, which became Cat Power's first US Billboard Album charting success.

That album saw legends like Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, and Warren Ellis perform with Cat Power. Her next album, The Greatest, would be the catalyst for her move into the mainstream. The album performed well commercially and was a critical hit and won the Shortlist Music Prize.

2008's Jukebox reached number 12 on the US Billboard charts and was made up primarily of cover songs by artists such as Hank Williams, Liza Minelli and Bob Dylan. Four years later, Cat Power released her ninth studio album, which made it into the top ten in the US for the first time.

Six years later, her Wanderer LP saw Cat Power return renewed and refreshed and back in fine form, and the album made up of entirely original material, was met with glowing reviews. In 2021 she toured as a support act for Alanis Morissette and Garbage.

2022 saw Cat Power release her Covers record, which ended up featuring on many publications' Best Albums of the Year lists, and she toured across the US in support of the album.

With many albums under her belt, Cat Power has an exhaustive back catalogue to draw from, which makes her setlist one to behold, making her live shows a truly memorable experience. Indeed her ability to put on an exceptional live performance led to the release of a 2023 live album with Cat Power Sings Dylan: The 1966 Royal Albert Hall Concert, which attracted rave reviews, and she is most definitely one of the world's favorite artists when it comes to stripped back live stage displays.
