Craig David Biography

Craig David was born in Southampton in May 1981 and got his first shot at fame by providing vocals to a number of tracks for the UK Garage act Artful Dodger.

With Artful Dodger, he sang on the hits Re-Rewind (The Crowd Say Bo Selecta), What Ya Gonna Do and Woman Trouble.

He then truly broke onto the UK music scene with his own solo career.

The early 2000s were clearly one of his most pivotal eras, with the young talent releasing his debut album, Born to Do It, to great success in 2000. It sold over seven and a half million copies around the world, topped the UK Charts and also did well across Europe and in the United States.

That album included some of his most successful singles, with both Fill Me In and 7 Days going to the top of the UK Charts. Other successful singles from the release included Walking Away and Rendezvous.

In 2002, he released his second album, Slicker Than Your Average, with What's Your Flava, Hidden Agenda, Rise & Fall (With Sting), Spanish and World Filled With Love, all performing well. The Story Goes (2005), Trust Me (2007) and Signed Sealed Delivered (2010) all followed with critical acclaim before a five-year break.

Craig David returned with his archetypal authentically British sound with his sixth studio album, Following My Intuition, which gave him his second UK number-one album.

In 2017, he featured on a cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water, the charity single in support of those who suffered the tragedy of the Grenfell Tower Fire. The song went to number one and raised funds for the families of the victims.

In 2022 he released his eighth album, 22, which once again was a commercial success in the United Kingdom.
