Heart History

Heart were originally formed as The Army in 1965, and under their new name, the group released their debut album, Dreamboat Annie, in 1975. The group's original lineup included Ann Wilson on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, Nancy Wilson on lead guitar and backing vocals, Roger Fisher and Howard Leese on rhythm guitar, Steve Fossen on bass and backing vocals and Mike Derosier on drums.

The record sold over a million copies in the United States alone and started the band on their lengthy journey. That release included iconic singles Magic Man, Crazy On You and How Deep It Goes.

A decade later, their self-titled release, their eighth studio album, scored the group their first US Billboard number one. It earned global recognition, selling over five million copies in the US alone, and garnered a Grammy nomination.

The record spawned a series of hit singles, including Never, These Dreams, Nothing' at All and If Looks Could Kill.

The 1980s proved a very successful stint for the group. In 1987, they released Bad Animals, which included another huge best-selling single, Alone, giving Heart their second-ever US Billboard number-one single. This was followed by Who Will You Run To, and There's the Girl.

Brigade (1990) and Desire Walks On (1993) were also commercially successful, and it would take another decade-plus before the release of the next album, Jupiter's Darling, in 2004.

Over a storied career spanning more than fifty years, the group have sold over fifty million records and they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
