Leann Rimes was born in Jackson, Missouri, in August 1982 and took to performing from a very early age, touring with her father. She also performed songs ahead of Dallas Cowboys NFL games and, by the age of 11, had already recorded her debut album.
When she started out, she was very much a country artist but has, over the years, become more pop-orientated.
Her third album, Blue, sold almost six million copies in the US alone, and that came in 1996 when she was barely 14 years of age. That album included a slew of country music hits, including One Way Ticket, Unchained Melody and The Light In Your Eyes.
In 1997, her version of Diane Warren's "How Do I Live" was a massive hit. It was featured on the Con Air soundtrack, which increased her status even more. The song earned her several nominations at the Country Music Awards. That same year she became the first country artist to win Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.
Rimes' celebrated music earned her no less than four Billboard Music awards in 1997, and she went from strength to strength as one of the youngest solo artist performers of note of the era. In 1999, she performed an epic duet with Elton John with Written In the Stars, charting well across the world.
Her fourth album, You Light Up My Life: Inspirational Songs, saw her top Billboard's Independent Album Chart and was a massive success around the world. In 2000, she released Can't Fight the Moonlight, which was another smash hit, this time featuring in the movie Coyote Ugly.
The ASCAP Award-winning songwriter continued to secure consistent success on the charts, with her 2005 release, This Woman, being another monster hit on the US Billboard charts. In 2007 Leann Rimes released her ninth studio album, Family, and that too broke into the top five in the US
In 2014 Leann Rimes released a trio of Christmas EPs as part of the Iconic music series.
In 2018 she got to work with music icon Stevie Nicks, who is clearly a big influence on Rimes, as they produced a new recording of Borrowed. That same year Leann Rimes put out a new EP for her beloved fans titled Re-Imagined.
2022 was the year the Grammy-winning superstar unveiled her 15th studio album, God's Work, which proved a critical success.
Leann Rimes has sold over 35 million records worldwide and has had a string of record-breaking hits over the course of a career that has already seen her perform for the best part of thirty-plus years at the very top.
