Neck Deep History

Neck Deep were formed in 2012 by the group's founding members, Ben Barlow, Lloyd Roberts, Matt West, Fil Thorpe-Evans and Dani Washington.

The band released Rain, their first EP, in July 2012 and followed that up with A History of Bad Decisions before they released their debut album, Wishful Thinking, on Hopeless Records, in January 2014. The studio album broke into the UK Album Charts and performed well on the UK Rock charts as well as across Europe. The same year they won the Best British Newcomer award at the prestigious Kerrang Awards.

It earned good reviews and was followed by the hugely successful follow-up, Life's Not Out to Get You, which reached number eight in the UK and broke into the top twenty in the United States, where they were really starting to make headway.

The Peace and the Panic, the band's third studio album, followed in 2017 and got to number four in the US, and by this time, the group was entertaining larger and larger audiences when playing live around the world. Indeed they had become one of the favourite artists in the world in a relatively short space of time.

The track In Bloom, taken from The Peace and the Panic, earned them another Kerrang Award, this time for Best Single in 2018. In 2020 the band released their fourth album, All Distortions Are Intentional, which once again reached number four in the UK and topped the UK Rock and Indie charts and was another critical success. 2020 also saw Seb Barlow take over as bass player from Joshua Halling, who replaced Fit Thorpe-Evans the year previously.

The group's self-titled fifth album was released in early 2024 and continued their run of triumphant output. Dani Washington left the band in 2022 and touring drummer Matt Powles, became the full-time replacement in 2023.

Neck Deep have been likened to prominent acts such as Blink-182, New Found Glory and Green Day with Fall Out Boy and Sum 41 also being cited as influences on the sound of the band.
