Oliver Stanley Murs was born in May 1984 in Witham, Essex and has gone on to become a solid gold pop star. After a short-lived football career, Olly Murs auditioned for the sixth season of The X Factor in 2009, where he lost the final to Joe McElderry. He immediately signed a record deal with Epic Records and Syco.

Olly Murs cites among his influences Robbie Williams, who he covered during his run to the X Factor final.

The following year saw him release his double platinum self-titled debut album, which reached number two on the UK Albums chart. The record included his debut single, Please Don't Let Me Go, which went to number one, and the follow-up, Thinking of Me, another top-five hit in the United Kingdom.

The following year he released In Case You Didn't Know, which gave him his first UK number-one album and sold over a million copies in the United Kingdom alone and also charted well across Europe. That release included two more number-one singles, Heart Skips a Beat, featuring Rizzle Kicks, and Dance With Me Tonight.

Next came Right Place Right Time, which not only secured him another number-one album but also did well in the United States. From that record came Troublemaker, featuring Flo Rida, Army Of Two and Dear Darlin, all of which did very well.

Troublemaker was one of Olly Murs's four number-one singles, and he duly had four number-one albums with the release of 24 Hours a few years later.
