Real Madrid vs Paris Saint-Germain History

Paris Saint-Germain was founded in 1970, some 68 years after the birth of Real Madrid. With almost seven decades' more experience, it comes as no surprise that the Spanish outfit is the more successful of these two European giants.

RMCF won each of the first five editions of the European Cup in the 1950s and early 60s, defeating the likes of AC Milan and Stade de Reims to lift this trophy. Real Madrid were champions of Europe only once more before the tournament remodelled to the UEFA Champions League in 1992.

Los Blancos captured Champions League glory three times around the turn of the 21st century, with victory over Juventus, Valencia and Bayer Leverkusen. The Spain defender amassed 671 appearances for Los Blancos and captained the team for six years until his exit. Marco Asensio also completed a free transfer from Real Madrid to PSG in 2023.

• Carlo Ancelotti has been the manager of Real Madrid as well as PSG, guiding both teams to their respective league titles during his time in charge.
