About SS Lazio Tickets 2026/27

SS Lazio is the oldest football club in Rome, founded in 1900. During the fascist rule of the country, there was a push for every club in the city to unite under one banner. However, the management of Lazio was not willing to give up its identity. The other clubs abided by the request and created AS Roma.

In its long history, the club has mostly played in the first tier of Italian football. However, they spent some years in Serie B during the 1980's following a match-betting scandal.

The iconic club have won plenty of silverware, most famously two Scudettos in the 1973/74 and 1999/00 seasons. They've been crowned Coppa Italia winners on no fewer than seven occasions, and have also won the Supercoppa Italiana three times. Internationally, Lazio achieved success in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup, both in 1999.

SS Lazio History

The club started as an amateur team, adopting the blue colour as a homage to the Olympic games and the eagle as a symbol of Zeus. In 1912 they were accepted by the Italian Football Federation, participating in professional leagues organised by the federation. Lazio was one of the teams that inaugurated the Italian Serie A competition in the 1929 season.

The team from Rome was always a contender until its darkest moments in 1980 when it was relegated to Serie B because of illegal bets. For three seasons Lazio remained in the second division but recovered from the shame to assume its most productive decade in the 90s. This is due in large part to the investments of owner Sergio Cragnotti who didn’t spare expanse in signing the best footballers.

The new acquisition translated into results on the pitch, finishing in the Serie A top three during the entire decade until they won the league title in 2000. However, financial trouble resurfaced after Cargnotti had to pull out of the team, and Lazio quickly lost its dominance but stayed a respected club.

In 2006, Lazio was excluded from the Europa League because of a match-fixing scandal. The comeback on the European stage came in 2020, with the return to the Champions League after 12 years. The team always produces thrilling football matches and if you're interested to buy SS Lazio tickets visit the SeatPick website for the best ticket prices.

Lazio Rivalries

The eternal city is among the three Italian cities to have two teams in Serie A. This situation creates a divide within Rome, with some neighbourhoods supporting Lazio while others cheer for their rivals AS Roma.

Both teams play at the Stadio Olimpico, meaning home advantage is usually not a major factor when the Derby Della Capitale takes place. The Rome derby is a huge occasion not only in the Italian capital but across the entire country.
