The Hives History

Formed by brothers Per "Pelle" Almqvist and Nicklas Almqvist in 1993, The Hives includes Mikael Karlsson, Mattias Bernvall, and Christian Grahn.

The band's debut album, Barely Legal, didn't attract a great deal of attention, but their follow-up, Veni Vidi Vicious, broke into both the Swedish charts and the UK album charts and secured glowing reviews that helped to propel the band into the mainstream.

That album included the tracks Main Offender, Die, All Right, and Hate to Say I Told You So, and having seen the band play that song on German TV, the head of the famed Creation Records, Alan McGee, signed the band for his label, Poptones.

Tyrannosaurus Hives

The band's third album, Tyrannosaurus Hives, broke into the UK top ten and made it onto the US Billboard charts, thanks chiefly to the re-released single Hate to Say I Told You So, which is by far the band's most famous song.

The Hives 2024 Concert Dates

Among the biggest and most intriguing dates on the tour are their appearances at Rock City in Nottingham, 02 City Hal in Newcastle Upon Tyne, the Great Hall in Cardiff, the O2 Academy in Bristol, and the Eventim Apollo in London.

Over the summer, the band from Sweden will play a number of massive festivals, including the legendary Rock Werchter in Belgium.
