Blur History

Singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bass player Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree met in London's Goldsmiths College and formed in the late 1980s, initially with the name Seymour.

They released their debut album via Food Records, Leisure, in 1991, which was a moderate success and was followed up by Modern Life is Rubbish two years later.

Parklife

Their third album, Parklife, proved a pivotal release and timed perfectly with the birth of Britpop. The record went to number one in the United Kingdom and sold millions of copies worldwide. It included a number of hit singles, including the title track and Girls & Boys.

In 1995, their apparent clash with Oasis, another huge Britpop outfit, led to a very public Battle of the Bands competition as their competing singles vied for top spot on the UK singles charts, with Blur's Country House winning out, going to number one and selling by the bucketload.

Great Escape

The Great Escape also went to the top of the album charts, and their self-titled album, released in 1997, did likewise and sold well in the United States. 13 (1999) was another chart-topping album, and Think Tank (2003) was a commercial and critical success.

The band then took a lengthy break from the limelight. In 2010, after seven years without a release, Blur released Fool's Day on a limited release, which sold out in seconds. The group reunited to release The Magic Whip, their eighth studio album, in 2015, which was coupled with a mini tour.

Ballad of Darren

In 2023, after an eight-year break, Blur reunited for a major tour that saw them play shows at Wembley Stadium while also releasing their ninth studio album, The Ballad of Darren, both of which were huge successes.

Wembley Stadium Shows

Their dates in London led to a concert film coming out, including a national cinematic release. This was followed by a Wembley Stadium album, made up of their live shows, which broke into the top ten in the UK.

As a live act, Blur are an awesome band and the chance to see the group playing each and every iconic song from their catalogue led to a huge surge of demand for those 2023 Wembley shows. If you want to be in the crowd for their next amazing night, where you get to experience your favourite songs live and in person, SeatPick can help make that dream a reality.

The group still have a great stage presence, and their big following is always excited by the prospect of listening to their heroes one more time and getting to hear the Blur sound in the flesh, so to speak.
