Michael Bolton was born in New Haven, as Michael Bolotin, Connecticut in February 1953 and by the age of 16 was already a signed musician with his band, the Nomads, earning a central with Epic Records.

He released his first solo studio album in 1975 but took a while to garner the level of fame and stardom that he secured later in his accomplished career. By all accounts, at this stage, he supported his musical career with a number of side gigs, including one as a babysitter for Paula Abdul.

Though he originally worked mainly in hard rock and heavy metal music, he is clearly more well-known for his easy-listening persona.

The American singer really got into his stride with the release of his fifth studio album, The Hunger, which sold two million copies in the United States alone and saw the singer start to evolve into the star he became.

In 1989, Michael Bolton secured his first ever number-one single with How Am I Supposed to Live Without You, a song he had originally written for Laura Branigan. That song came off his Soul Provider album, which also spawned the hits How Can We Be Lovers, Georgia on My Mind and When I'm Back on My Feet Again.

Soul Provider sold over six million copies in the US and over a million copies in the UK and was followed up by the even more successful Time, Love and Tenderness. That album topped the US Albums Chart and gave Michael Bolton arguably his most well-known success.

His cover of When a Man Loves a Woman went to number one and is still a song that features on Michael Bolton's setlist, much to the delight of the watching audience. That amazing success was backed by another number-one album, Timeless: The Classics, continuing his tradition of covering famous tracks.

In 1996 his Christmas album, This is the Time, was another monumental success. In 2023, Michael Bolton released his latest studio album, Spark of Light. it secured strong sales and glowing reviews and further cemented the singer as a beloved legend.
