Roderick David Stewart, aka Rod Stewart, was born in Highgate, London, in January 1945 to a Scottish father and English mother.

As a teenager, he was drawn into the music world and earned his famous Rod the Mod label. In 1969, he released his debut solo album, An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down, which was a modest hit and helped to garner exposure for what was to follow.

This came after appearances with many bands throughout the 1960s, including Shotgun Express, The Jeff Beck Group, and, most notably, Faces.

He performed with the Faces from 1969 to 1975 (before returning for various reunion tours and releases) and provided the lead vocals on many of their biggest hits, including Stay With Me and Cindy Incidentally.

It was his third studio album, Every Picture Tells a Story, that saw Rod Stewart become a true global superstar. The album went to number one in the UK and the US and included the big hits Maggie May and (I Know) I'm Losing You.

Throughout the 1970s, Rod Stewart released hit after hit after hit. His albums Never a Dull Moment (1972), Smiler (1974), Atlantic Crossing (1975) and A Night on the Town (1976) all went to number one in the UK and also did well across the sea in the United States.
