The Cure History

The Cure was formed in 1976. In 1979, they released their debut album, Three Imaginary Boys, which was a moderate success. A year later, they released a more successful second album, Seventeen Seconds. The early incarnation of the band definitely saw darker output, and they have evolved greatly since, which has helped them to increase their fan base.

As a live act, they have always sounded great, and one of the most common support acts in their early shows was Also the Trees, who went on to enjoy the producing skills of founder Cure member Lol Tolhurst.

In between these albums, they put out their iconic single Boy's Don't Cry, which is still very much a fan favourite.

From 1984 to 1996 the group album releases all secured top ten spots on the UK charts, which highlights their consistency as a band in this era. Over this period they enjoyed big success with Disintegration (1989), Wish (1992) and Wild Mood Swings (1996).

1996's Wild Mood Swings was a strong commercial success with the band's new line-up, comprising Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, Roger O'Donnell and Perry Bamonte joined by new drummer Jason Cooper.

Among their most well-known tracks are Just Like Heaven, Friday I'm In Love, Lullaby and The Lovecats.
