Tom Odell was born in Chichester, West Sussex, in November 1990 and studied at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, and initially appeared in the band Tom & the Tides before opting to go solo.

He was initially signed by Columbia Records and his debut single, Another Love, proved a massive instant hit. The track got to the top ten of the UK singles chart and also did likewise across Europe and also secured moderate success in the United States.
