About Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Tickets 2024/25

It doesn’t get much bigger than this. Bayern Munich and Inter Milan are two of the most successful sides in European football, both in terms of what they’ve achieved in their respective domestic leagues and also their collective UEFA trophy haul.

So take a look at the available seats in the Allianz Arena for this UEFA Champions League fixture now, and within one or two clicks, you could be sitting among your fellow supporters cheering on your team to victory!

Bayern Munich’s first European Cup campaign came in 1969/70 and was a brief affair. They were knocked out by Saint-Etienne in the First Round. Their next adventure in the competition came along in 1972/73, and this time, they made it through to the Quarter-Finals before Ajax dealt them a blow.

However, over the course of the next three seasons, they were unbeatable. They won the competition in 1973/74 when they beat Atletico Madrid in the replay of the European Cup Final, and twelve months later, they did it again, this time beating Leeds United 2-0 in Paris.

A third successive title was clinched in 1976 when Saint-Etienne were defeated 1-0 in Glasgow.

It would take another quarter of a century for Bayern Munich to taste victory in the competition again, with a series of final defeats dealing them a real blow.

In 1982, Aston Villa edged past Bayern Munich in Rotterdam thanks to a Peter Withe goal, and in 1987, they were beaten by an FC Porto side that fought back from a goal down late on.

1999 is perhaps the club’s most infamous final, with Die Bayern beaten by Manchester United despite being 1-0 up after 90 minutes. Sir Alex Fergusons’s side somehow managed to score twice in injury time to defeat the Bundesliga side.

In 2001, they beat Valencia on penalties to shake off the run of losses before 2010 and 2012 saw them lose again to Inter Milan and Chelsea, respectively.

In 2013, Bayern Munich got back to winning ways when Dutch winger Arjen Robben fired home a late winner against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium.

The club’s 2020 success in the UEFA Champions League was something of a low-key one, given the final was played in an empty stadium due to coronavirus restrictions, with Kingsley Coman scoring the only goal of the game as Bayern Munich beat Paris Saint-Germain in Lisbon.

Inter Milan enjoyed a strong period of domination in the European Cup themselves, covering much of the mid to late 1960s and early 1970s.

Renowned Argentina manager Helenio Herrera took the Nerazzurri to the European Cup Final in 1964, where they proceeded to beat Real Madrid 3-1 in Vienna, with the great Sandro Mazzola scoring twice.

Herrera took Internazionale to the final the following year; this time, a goal from Brazilian winger Jair was enough to see off the challenge of Benfica at the San Siro in Milan.

In 1967 they were surprisingly beaten by Celtic in the final in Lisbon, with two late goals from the Glasgow side edging out Herrera’s side. 1972 saw them return to the final, this time under Italian boss Giovanni Invernizzi, but Johan Cruyff put on a masterclass to score twice and defeat the Serie A team in Rotterdam.

It took some 38 years for the club to get back to those heights, and that run came to an end under inspirational manager Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese securing a UEFA Champions League triumph with a comfortable 2-0 win over Bayern Munich.

13 years later, Inter reached their sixth final in the competition, where Manchester City narrowly defeated them 1-0, with Spanish midfielder Rodri scoring the only goal of the game in the 2022/23 finale in Istanbul.

Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Head-to-Head

These two sides have met in four separate European campaigns, the first of which came in the group phase of the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League, with Bayern Munich running out 2-0 winners at the San Siro before the pair played out a draw at the Allianz Arena.

In 2010 they faced off in the UEFA Champions League Final, a game that Inter Milan won at a canter, with Diego Milito proving deadly, scoring both goals in a 2-0 win.

The following season the two sides were drawn against each other in the Round of 16, with Inter Milan securing a 3-2 win in Germany to win through on the away goals rule.

In 2022/23, the season that saw Inter Milan make it to the final, Bayern Munich actually defeated the losing finalists twice, winning 2-0 both home and away.

Bayern Munich vs Inter Milan Connections

A large number of stars have played for both Bayern Munich and Inter Milan; these include Jurgen Klinsmann, Karl-Heinze Rummenigge, Ivan Perisic, Lucio, Andreas Brehme, Arturo Vidal and Xherdan Shaqiri. However, the most prominent player to do so would have to be legendary midfielder Lothas Matthaus. The 1990 World Cup winner moved to Bayern Munich in 1984 from Borussia Monchengladbach and spent four years with the club, scoring 69 goals in 150 games, before he moved to the San Siro.

In Italy, he proved an immediate hit, with Inter Milan winning their first Serie A title in almost a decade in the first season after he arrived. Over the course of four seasons, Matthaus scored 53 goals in 153 games before he moved back to Bayern Munich.

Over the course of his two spells in Munich, he managed 100 goals in just over 400 games, winning six Bundesliga titles but never managed to secure a European Cup or a UEFA Champions League win.
