James Taylor Tickets

One James Taylor album, his 1976 Greatest Hits, has sold 11 million copies in the US alone, which puts it among the best-selling records in American history.

His fingerpicked guitar and unhurried baritone helped define the 1970s singer-songwriter era alongside Carole King and Joni Mitchell, and he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

Half a century on, he still returns to the same beloved stages every summer, drawing crowds who've grown up with these iconic songs.

What to Expect from a James Taylor Concert?

Taylor's evenings feel closer to a long conversation than a performance, with warm, dry stories about the songs threaded between numbers.

His All-Star Band, including longtime backing vocalists, gives the quiet acoustic originals a fuller, rootsier glow without crowding his guitar.

Special guests often join the band, a tradition he's described as turning ordinary nights into something livelier when friends like Bonnie Raitt sit in.

The crowd tends to sing along softly rather than loudly, and the mood stays relaxed, reflective, and unhurried from first song to last.

James Taylor's Biography

James Vernon Taylor was born on 12 March 1948 in Boston and moved to North Carolina as a child, where the rural surroundings shaped the pastoral side of his songwriting.

He wrote his first song at 14, spent time fronting a band called The Flying Machine in Greenwich Village, and was discovered at 19 by a talent scout for the Beatles' Apple Records.

His 1968 debut introduced "Something in the Way She Moves" and "Carolina in My Mind," but 1970's Sweet Baby James was the breakthrough, earning Grammy nominations including Album of the Year.

Its lead single, "Fire and Rain," reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100, a song drawn from the loss of a friend and his own struggles with depression.

He's been a Grammy winner several times over, and his siblings Alex, Kate, and Livingston Taylor are all musicians too.

James Taylor's Albums & Projects

After his 1968 debut and Sweet Baby James, Taylor released Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon in 1971, home to his hit version of Carole King's "You've Got a Friend."

JT arrived in 1977 and earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, one year after Greatest Hits earned Diamond certification.

Before This World, released in 2015, became his first number-one album, decades after his debut.
