Louis Tomlinson Biography

Louis Tomlinson was born in Doncaster in December 1991 and in 2010 he auditioned on the seventh season of the X Factor and subsequently became a member of One Direction, who went on to become, at one point, the biggest band on the planet.

Over the course of their six years as a group, One Direction sold over 70 million records and won all manner of accolades. Alongside fellow members Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, they were untouchable, proving an astonishingly successful act in all corners of the globe, even breaking the notoriously tough US market.

In 2016, he released his debut single, Just Hold Out, featuring Steve Aoki, which was a big hit worldwide. That was followed by Back to You, with Bebe Rexha and Digital Farm Animals, which also performed well commercially.

When the band split, Louis Tomlinson went on to release his debut solo album, Walls, in 2020, and it broke into the top ten in both the US and the UK.

In 2021, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records for breaking the record for the most livestreamed concert when Louis hosted over 160,000 fans in over 100 countries. He raised funds for a host of charities and touring crew affected by the pandemic that had put a halt to all live shows.

The follow-up album, Faith in the Future proved far more successful, getting to number one on the UK Album Charts and to number five on the US Billboard Charts.

The album included a host of powerful singles, including the impassioned pop song Bigger Than Me as well as Miss You, Two of Us and Kill My Mind.
