Pulp were formed way back in 1978 at The City School in Sheffield by precocious teenager Jarvis Cocker and it would take a long time before the band emerged as a major mainstream act.
A Peel Session appearance helped to bring them to the fore, albeit with a select few and Pulp's debut album, It was released in 1983 but failed to chart, and likewise, their releases of Freaks (1987) and Separations (1992) did not secure commercial success, but that was all about to change with the emergence of Britpop.
His 'n' Hers, Pulp's fourth studio album, came out in 1994 and secured great reviews and signed to Island Records, they finally had a home that could push them to the top. That album broke into the top ten in the UK, and the following year, they hit the big time.
Different Class was released in 1995 and is widely regarded as one of the best albums of the era. It reached number one in the UK and charted well across Europe. It sold over a million copies in the United Kingdom and spawned a series of hit singles including the anthem Common People, Disco 2000, Something Changed and Sorted for E's & Wizz, all of which got into the top ten on the UK Singles chart.
Three years later, they followed that album up with This is Hardcore, another number-one UK Album featuring hit singles Help the Aged, A Little Soul, This is Hardcore and Party Hard.
2001 saw Pulp release their seventh, and to date final, studio album. We Love Life, too, charted well, and a successful greatest hits compilation followed before the band split up. Solo projects followed before a first reunion tour in 2011.
2023 saw the band once again go out on the road, sadly without Steve Mackey, who tragically passed way earlier in the year.
Their ability to sell tickets was undimmed, and they played sell-out shows all over the world. Pulp tickets for their latest run of concerts can be found on our website.
