This pivotal moment swiftly tilted the match in Real Madrid’s favour, and Los Blancos went on to win 4-1.

Prior to that astonishing match, Lazio and Atletico Madrid last met in the 2011/12 Europa League Round of 32. Atletico beat their Italian counterparts 4-1, largely thanks to a Radamel Falcao brace in their first leg. Italian striker Christian Vieri moved from Atletico Madrid to Lazio in 1998. He was a goal-machine but spent just one season at each club. In the same summer, José Chamot and Vladimir Jugović moved in the opposite direction, but both players left the Vicente Calderon after one season.
